How do I register for a course?
Once you are admitted to the program, you will receive registration paperwork via e-mail from the Office of the University Registrar. If you don’t receive registration information, please contact the Office of the University Registrar at 1-800-794-6945 ext. 5400 or by e-mail at registrar@friends.edu.
Changes in registration should be directed to your academic advisor.
How do I add or drop an online course? Can I get a refund?
Contact your academic advisor to initiate a course add or drop. You can fill out an Add/Drop form to forward to your advisor to start this process.
Refunding policies are determined by the Student Account Services office. Please contact Student Account Services for further information at 316-295-5630 or 800-794-6945 ext. 5630.
How do I withdraw from the program?
Should circumstances arise that require you withdraw from the program and the University, you can fill out a Student-Initiated Withdrawal form with your academic advisor to start this process.
Discontinued class attendance does not constitute an official withdrawal.
The completion of an official withdrawal does not relieve the student from their financial responsibilities to the University.
How do I graduate?
Step 1: Successfully complete all degree requirements for Friends University.
Step 2: Complete appropriate completion paperwork with your academic advisor.
Step 3: Pay the graduation fee.
Step 4: Once your degree has been verified and awarded, the Office of the University Registrar will order a diploma for you. A detailed letter will be sent to you at that time regarding your diploma. Any person who has outstanding indebtedness will not be allowed to receive an official transcript, record or diploma.
Step 5: You are invited to attend a Friends University Commencement ceremony. Information regarding commencements hosted by Friends University can be found at www.friends.edu. Information regarding caps, gowns, rings, invitations and other graduation related items can be found at www.friends.edu/buy-friends-items.
How do I order official Friends University transcripts?
Transcript ordering information can be found at www.friends.edu/get-transcripts. Any person who has outstanding indebtedness will not be allowed to receive a transcript, record or diploma.
When are grades posted, how do I access my grades and get a grade letter?
Instructors are asked to enter grades in Self-Service Banner (SSB) within 2 weeks of the last date of class. Your grades will be available via SSB. To view your final grades and print your own official grade letter from SSB, log on to SSB with your Banner ID and pin number. If you have trouble logging in, contact the Friends University Help Desk at helpdesk@friends.edu or call 1-800-794-6945 ext. 5767.
Transfer course audits are prepared for undergraduate students only. How do I get mine?
The Office of the University Registrar prepares an official audit for each fully admitted undergraduate student. Your official audit will be distributed and reviewed with you by your academic advisor.
Where do I find the academic catalog?
Students must meet the degree requirements in effect at the time of their entry into Friends University. Your catalog containing those requirements and other institutional policies is available at http://www.friends.edu/academics/catalog-and-course-schedules.
I’m eligible for VA educational benefits, who do I talk to?

What is Self-Service Banner (SSB), and how do I access it?
SSB is the Friends University student information system. Your student record information is housed there, along with services such as: access to unofficial transcripts, official grade letters, and class schedules. You can access SSB here or through the Friends University Web site – just follow the link on the bottom right-hand side of the home page. To log-in you will need your Student ID and pin number. If you have trouble logging in, contact the Friends University Help Desk at 1-800-794-6945 ext. 5767.
What do I do if I have a complaint that needs to be reviewed?
The University General Policies provide an academic grievance procedure. If a student determines that a complaint warrants action, the student should be advised of the following University procedure:
- Student is asked to confer with the instructor involved. If such a conference does not resolve the issue,
- Student is asked to confer with instructor’s division head. If such a conference does not resolve the issue;
- Student is asked to confer with the dean of the instructor’s college. The Dean will take action that resolves the matter.
- Should a student wish to appeal the Dean’s decision, an appeal must be made in writing to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, who, in consultation with the President, will respond for the University.
If a graduate student determines that a complaint warrants action, the student should be advised of the following Graduate School procedure to be followed within 12 weeks from the end date of the course in question:
- Student should confer with the instructor involved. If such a conference does not resolve the issue,
- Student should confer with the Program Director. If such a conference does not resolve the issue,
- Student may appeal in writing to the Program’s Division Chair. If the issue is not resolved,
- Student may appeal to the Dean of the Graduate School. The written appeal will be forwarded to the Dean by the student. The Dean will take action that resolves the matter.
- Should a student wish to appeal the Dean’s decision, an appeal must be made in writing to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, who, in consultation with the President, will respond for the University.
